Artist of the Month - August 2009
Yeah, yeah, I know. Cobra Starship has been together for three years now so why are they getting Artist of the Month? Well main reason is because they are about to release a completely kickass CD. Their third CD Hot Mess is going to be hitting shelves August 11. I don't know about you guys but I hope to be one of the first people to get my hands on a copy from my local store; no matter who I have to push over to do so!
The new album is promising to bring a new age in "clubbing" music and from the three tracks I have already heard (Good Girls Go Bad Feat. Leighton Meester, Pete Wentz Is The Only Reason We're Famous and the album's title track Hot Mess) I know that this is going to be a huge year for Cobra. They are always reinventing themselves in new ways and are constantly keeping me on my toes; I'm never quite to sure what to expect from them.
For those of you who don't know what type of music they make, I would describe it as this. Picture 80's techno and modern pop punk getting freaky in the sheets and have a baby. The beautiful, bouncing creation would have no other name worthy of it than, you guess it, Cobra Starship! The music has an edge of spunk and a pinch of sass which no doubt reflects the people who create it; Gabe Saporta, Victoria Asher, Alex Suarez, Ryland Blackinton and Nate Novarro are not one's to disappoint.
If you haven't already you should give Cobra Starship a listen and I can almost gaurantee that you will like what you hear. And hey, if not, at least you gave them a shot, eh?
